What
is an SSL Certificate?
SSL is an encryption code that allows
private, confidential information, usually credit
card information, to pass over the Internet without
being stolen and used for fraud. The information
is encrypted, sent over the Internet and decrypted
by the server at the receiving end and vice versa.
The ability to send and receive over SSL is currently
built-in to all major browsers (i.e. Internet Explorer,
Netscape Navigator, AOL). What you pay the SSL
provider for is an encryption/decryption key, or
SSL certificate that verifies to the end user that
they are sending their private information to the
intended Web site.
This
is an example of what an SSL Certificate looks
like to the viewer:

If
you plan to sell products or services online
and will be requiring credit card information,
social security numbers, bank account numbers
or any information considered private or confidential
and you are concerned about the security of your
customers information, you will need an SSL certificate.
If you do not have one, potential customers will
not feel safe about giving their information
to you via your Web site and may go elsewhere.
In the very near future, you will be able
to order SSL Certificates right from our
Web site, but for now you will need to call us toll free at 1-(888)-395-8251.
